FAQ about your newborn session

I advice to book whilst still pregnant. I will note your EDD in my diary and will patiently await your exciting news to then arrange a suitable date/time. If your baby is already born, please don’t worry, contact me ASAP for my availability.

For portrait session, I recommend babies to be between 7-14 days old to achieve sleepy images of your baby. At this age they are happier to be repositioned, swaddled and sleep most of the time.

Lifestyle session focuses more on natural and baby-led posing, there is no set time frame for these sessions. Most of the new babies are within the first 1-6 weeks after birth. Babies closer to the 2 week old will be more sleepy, while babies closer to the 6 week old are more awake for their sessions. No matter what age your baby is, we will capture some absolutely beautiful portraits of him or her! Your sessions can take place on weekday during school hours or Saturday which I like to prioritize with families with school age children, as these book up very quickly. Managing my diary in advance can ensure that my clients have flexibility in dates and also seamless turnaround times for edited galleries

If you’re booking your newborn session before your baby arrives and are toying with the idea of capturing the motherhood journey from the beginning, my Mini Maternity Sessions might just be the perfect way to remember your baby bump.

The ideal time for these is between 32-38 weeks. These are super fun and relaxed and can be done in style that resembles YOU!

COST:  £125 and includes 3 digital images and their prints.

I always leave certain days in the week free to accommodate changes. Babies almost never come on their EDD.

If you have booked Bump&Baby package, I always advise your pregnancy shoot to take place anytime from 32-38 weeks gestation so the risk of missing out on pregnancy images is minimal.

I recommend that parent’s and sibling’s outfits are kept to earth tones and pale hues like linens, greys, creams, blush and blues. Remember to pick outfits that are comfortable and easy – nothing too restricting or form fitting so we can capture some beautiful flow and movement.

I recommend to avoid vivid colours, fine stripes (as these warp in images), checks and tops with large patterns, logos and pictures.

Regarding props – for portrait sessions I have wraps, throws and props available in my studio for you to choose from and baby will be mostly naked. For lifestyle session I recommend baby to be in simple white vest or just in nappy, no props required.

The average turnaround time from session to online gallery is around 1-2 weeks and up to 2 weeks for your download from order date. Product and prints will follow in the post/or collection once I receive them.

I advise to allow around 4 hours for a portrait newborn session which allows for settling and feeding and ensures relaxed, unrushed atmosphere. I only book 1 session in the day so there is no rush on my part.

Lifestyle in home sessions take approx. 1-2 hours.

For babies no clothes is needed except some extra nappies on hand and if bottle fed I suggest to bring more milk than they would usually take just in case. A special toy/hat/blanket or any knits that have sentimental value, you are welcome to bring with you and I will try and incorporate it within photos.

Change of clothes for everyone is essential as accidents are inevitable.

As this session is quite long, please bring snack or lunch with you. I will provide hot/cold drinks.

If you have older children, maybe you would like to bring something to entertain them with however I have loads of toys here that they are welcome to play with.

For a PORTRAIT session final images are fully edited (dry skin, spots and blemishes removed, patched skin corrected and skin tone adjusted). Editing is done by me appropriately and naturally (see my gallery) and I discuss any special editing with clients prior finalising the order. Unless otherwise specified by you, birthmarks are left untouched.

For LIFESTYLE session, all images are cropped, colour corrected and skin tone adjusted (ie. if baby’s skin is still jaundice). I keep these images natural and no fine editing is done. If by chance baby has a massive scratch across a cheek, I will remove that but other than something very obvious, they are not edited in the same way as Portrait photos.

You can secure your booking through ‘Book now’ button. I will be in touch to arrange a brief call to discuss your ideas for your session and next steps in planning your photoshoot.
