Brand photography in essex with nutritionist Alex Allan

Today I’m blogging about a brand shoot I had with Alex Allan last year (need to start somewhere and I thought these looked very seasonal right now). At that time, Alex just qualified as a nutritionist.

After Alex’s personally experienced how change of lifestyle had improved her health, she left her corporate job to train in Nutritional Therapy. Now, she provides support with many challenges, including digestive problems, food allergies and intolerances, weight issues, skin problems, stress, healthy aging etc. Her plans are specifically designed to clients’ needs and are based on the most up-to-date scientific research, helping clients achieve their goal and enjoy the freedom that optimal health, wellness and vitality can bring.

Brand shoot brief

We split the 3-hour photoshoot into 3 brand stories (her home, at their allotment and local businesses). We started in her home where she already prepared some meals to photograph as flatlays and I captured some lifestyle photos of her plating and finishing off her cooking.

In the middle of her garden is a pear tree and it had so many fruit so we took some lifestyle shots there with deep green colours that really complimented Alex’s brand colours.

Alex offers consultations online and face to face and so she organised a client to come along for 10 minutes to grab some working shots that become real staple in most brand shoots.

How we got on...

After little play with her dog and quick taster session with the whole family, we headed to our second location – allotment. I’m keen gardener and grower myself, so I felt right at home here. We also took some candid shots with her harvest. It was to really capture the feels she wanted for her photos – fresh, authentic and quality. I even got a goody bag to take home. Yum!

The weather was very kind to us up until it started raining and didn’t stop. Luckily, our third location was planned indoors. Leigh on Sea’s Refill room and greengrocers took us in (with advanced permission) and we could happily finish the photos without getting wet.

I really like how the photos turned out and it was really great to work with Alex as we have so much in common too (I just love food!).

She is currently hosting an online Menopause Masterclass on 18/10/21 and you can book through her instagram as alexallannutrition
