Power of visual storytelling beyond traditional headshots in brand photoshoot with Nutralei, Leigh on Sea, Essex
I recently had the pleasure of working with Lei – naturopathic nutritional therapist, on her branding photoshoot, and I’m thrilled to share some BTS thoughts, her photos and testimonial with you!
I’m delighted to have been a part of Lei’s branding journey! In her branding photos, they go beyond merely showcasing who she is, what she does and how she does it.
The hope was to bridge her expertise and skills and communicating her values and the profound impact she can have on her clients’ lives. We wanted to hint on the essence of her personality as well as her knowledge and how it translates into personalised, bespoke solutions for her clients, not only revealing the “how” of her work but also conveying the genuine care she provides.
Lei came into the session feeling a bit nervous, as many do in front of the camera and with car loaded to the brim of homeware, books and food. We chose a hired space for the background of her photos to mirror her Scandinavian roots. First, the sight was quite overwhelming as you could imagine. Lei’s worry was that she would look fake or awkward in her photos so I simply asked her to shake her arms to shake off the nerves and I encouraged her to forget about the camera and focus on being natural, authentic, and genuine as she would when she was with clients or with friends. A reminder of what we want to say and evoke with our photos was very helpful.
Preparation is a vital part of the process. I believe in getting to know my clients deeply, understanding their goals, and tailoring the visual content to enhance their services and connect with their audience. Knowing the purpose of those photos is the secret ingredient in creating meaningful and impactful imagery.
It’s always lovely to play a small part in bringing clients’ visions to life even if they don’t know what they want as long as I know what they don’t want! That’s a good start.
